Free NDIS readiness webinar – Improve IT4NDIS

In conjunction with The Virtual IT Department and National Disability Services (NDS), Mental Health Australia is pleased to offer a free, trial webinar for mental health providers, as part of the ImproveIT4NDIS project. The webinar will be held on 9 August 2016 between 9.30am‑12.30pm.

The ImproveIT4NDIS project is designed to deliver an accelerated IT Planning and System Selection Program for providers seeking to build their ICT literacy and capability including a roadmap for upgrading or selecting a system(s) in preparation for the NDIS.

This webinar is designed to identify your organisation’s detailed business requirements and draws upon the methodology and resources on the ImproveIT4NDIS website. It is targeted at organisations that are planning significant ICT investment in the next few months, as part of their NDIS preparations. It should be attended by staff familiar with the ICT arrangements within your organisation.

As the number of spots in this free, trial webinar are strictly limited, please register only if you are planning on upgrading your ICT. Regular readers of this update will know that Mental Health Australia, Community Mental Health Australia and state and territory mental health peak bodies wrote a joint letter to members of the Disability Reform Council, calling on them to urge the Productivity Commission to consider a range of issues relating to the interaction between mental health and the NDIS. The full letter is now available on the Mental Health Australia website (click here).

Update to the NDIS Price Guide

The NDIS 2016/17 Price Guide for NDIS Service Providers has recently been updated to include Specialist Disability Accommodation Supports. For more information, please visit the NDIS website (click here).

Tasmania Market Position Statement

NDIS Mental Health Network update readers will know that the NDIA has been developing a range of Market Position Statements, which it says will “inform market stakeholders and help current and prospective providers of supports and services prepare for the opportunities…” created by the NDIS.

The NDIA recently released the Tasmania Market Position Statement, which is available on the NDIS website (click here).

NDIS Benchmarking Function

As mentioned in the most recent NDIS Mental Health Network Update, the NDIA is currently designing a provider benchmarking function to support delivery of the NDIS. There are opportunities for current and/or aspiring providers to be engaged in the design of the function. You can find out how to participate on the NDIS website (click here).

Reminder about resources available on the NDIS website

The NDIS commenced full roll-out, in stages, across Australia from 1 July 2016. The NDIA has developed a suite of resources to help both participants and providers to engage with the NDIS. These resources are available on the NDIS website; a good place to start is the NDIS Ready webpage (click here).
