Submission to the consultation on draft lists of NDIS Supports

On 16 August 2024, Mental Health Australia made a submission to the Department of Social Services consultation on the draft lists of NDIS supports. This was a critical consultation on lists designed to define what is and is not a NDIS support. Mental Health Australia’s submission makes a number of recommendations to ensure recovery focussed supports and therapeutic supports for people with psychosocial disability continue to be appropriately included as NDIS supports. In addition, our submission calls for a clear and simple process for participants to be able to purchase supports from the exclusions list in extenuating circumstances, and recommends establishment of a robust and transparent process for deeming additional specific supports ‘not value for money/ not effective or beneficial’. Our submission also makes recommendations about a range of issues that should be considered in development of the future Category A Rules that will eventually replace the lists of NDIS supports.
