Submission on draft PBAC Guidelines

Mental Health Australia made a submission to the review of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) guidelines, calling on the guidelines to:

  • Embed consumer and carer participation in app processes that affect them
  • Ensure alignment with international best practice in consumer and carer participation in health technology assessment
  • Invest in capacity building for consumer and carer participation
  • Ensure careful consideration of the appropriate ‘comparator’ drug for mental health treatments
  • Ensure that PBAC consider the broader benefits from medications, for example, consideration of the ability for the consumer and carer to return to the workforce
