As our first Members Policy Forum ( MPF ) of the year wrapped up yesterday evening, our attention quickly turned to today’s Board meeting and the new challenges ahead of planning and hosting events during what is clearly a difficult and anxious time for many in our community.

‘A gender equal world can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious - so what’s not great about that?’ asks the International Women’s Day 2020 campaign. If asked, would anyone really disagree with how great that would be?

Most Fridays we stop to have lunch together in the Mental Health Australia office. It’s a nice tradition where we get some time to catch up and chat about the week that was and the weekend ahead…

In a world where we often, and sadly, only celebrate life when there is death, this weekend I plan to celebrate and remember my sister, and focus on the many lives her death has helped save and improve.

Last Friday, I attended a roundtable with the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development to support national planning for the recovery of fire affected communities through the National Bushfire Recovery Agency.

The Mental Health Australia office will be closed from the afternoon of Friday 20 December, reopening on Monday 6 January.

As we race towards the end of the year, the team at Mental Health Australia celebrated the festive season early last week with our annual staff party, and what a year to celebrate. It was a lovely, sunny afternoon – and a chance to thank the staff for their efforts and achievements over this past 12 months.
