NDIS Mental Health Network Update – October 2017 (additional)

This is a special update, informing the NDIS Mental Health Network about an important NDIS Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) grants round opening very soon as well as two upcoming informative NDIS events and a news story outlining systemic issues surrounding the rollout of the NDIS for people with psychosocial disabilities.

The next round of NDIS ILC jurisdictional grants to open soon
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has announced that applications for the next round of jurisdictional based grants for the ILC component of the NDIS in NSW, SA and ACT will open on 24 October 2017 and close on 30 November 2017. Organisations will be able to apply for grants of up to 2 years.

The NDIA is running information sessions in all three states that will provide information about ILC and the Jurisdictional Based Grants process. There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers. Please visit the ILC Eventbrite page (please click here) to RSVP for these information sessions.

Organisations interested in applying for an ILC grant are also encouraged to use the ILC Toolkit (please click here). The ILC Toolkit includes introductory videos about ILC and information about preparing for a grant application.

Live forum and webinar on mental health reform in an NDIS world
This Monday, 16 October 2017, Aftercare is running an expert panel forum on mental health reform in an NDIS world. Aftercare’s CEO Dr Andrew Young is bringing together a panel of leading experts in mental health to discuss sector reforms, managing client needs and strategies for recovery-oriented pathways in the NDIS world. This event includes both a live forum in Sydney and a live online Webinar.

Mind the Gap Workshop in Brisbane
The Queensland Alliance for Mental Health is inviting community mental health organisations in Queensland to attend a one day workshop providing tailored support to address specific business issues with subject matter experts. These experts will cover a range of topics such as clinical governance, customer service, operational efficiencies, as well as provide guidance and support during the sessions.

NDIS and Psychosocial Disability discussed on the Drum
On World Mental Health Day, 10 October 2017, Mental Health Australia CEO Frank Quinlan appeared on ABC’s the Drum and discussed the systemic issues surrounding the rollout of the NDIS for people with psychosocial disabilities.
