Apply for Membership
Mental Health Australia members share our vision for a mentally healthy nation where the wellbeing of all Australians is protected and enhanced by strong service systems and social attitudes that promote recovery.
Our membership brings together a diverse range of organisations from across Australia to be a strong voice on mental health reform and stigma reduction.
Membership of Mental Health Australia is available in two categories:
National mental health organisations (Full) | Non-national organisations with an interest in mental health (Associate) | |
Full membership is for organisations operating in at least 4 states or territories with a primary mission, purpose or interest in mental health. Alternatively, an organisation whose work is considered to have a significant impact at a national level may also be eligible to be a Full Member. | Associate membership of Mental Health Australia is for mental health organisations operating in at least 1 Australian state or territory. Organisations with a primary focus on other areas of social services or welfare with a peripheral interest in mental health can also apply for Associate Membership. |
To apply for membership, please download and complete the relevant application form, the Nominator Form and return via email.
If you have any questions, please contact our Memberships Officer (02) 6285 3100 or membership@mhaustralia.org
Please note: We do not offer membership to Individuals as we are the national peak body representing and advocating on behalf of organisations. We encourage individuals to support World Mental Health Day events, for information on becoming a partner for World Mental Health Day, please email membership@mhaustralia.org
Membership Fee Structure
The Board of Mental Health Australia aims to structure annual membership fees to support the ongoing activities of Mental Health Australia and ensure a variety of organisations are able to access the benefits of either Full or Associate Membership of Mental Health Australia.
The set membership fee prices are to ensure members continue to access the benefits, value and events to advocate for mental health reform.
The Board realises that many organisations operating in the not-for -profit sector rely heavily on grants, donations and philanthropy to conduct their business. If your organisation has difficulties meeting this fee structure, or your annual income has changed significantly, please contact membership@mhaustralia.org to discuss, rather than just let your membership lapse.
The Board will consider all feedback from members on the fee increase and structure, and is prepared to consider a different application of fees, especially when an organisation has experienced or is expecting considerable cuts to funding.
