MEDIA ALERT: A ‘Practical Guide for working with carers of people with a mental illness'

Over recent years there has been significant investment and effort made by governments to improve outcomes for people with mental illness, their families and carers.  In 2010 it was estimated that around 2.4 million people in Australia care for a person with a mental illness. This process impacts severely on their lives.

A consortium of five organisations began a 12 month project on the 1st March, 2015 to develop a national ‘Practical Guide for working with carers of people with a mental illness’. The Guide will be launched by Robyn Kruk AM at Mental Health Australia’s Members Policy Forum at Old Parliament House, on the 30th of March at 11:00pm.
