Opening Statement by Frank Quinlan, CEO of Mental Health Australia, to Joint Parliamentary Committee on the NDIS
Supportive of the achievements of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to date, this Opening Statement by the CEO of Mental Health Australia, Frank Quinlan, also highlights the sector’s strong concerns that various risks remain, while the implications of the scheme’s design are still unaddressed. These includes poor outcomes for mental health consumers, carers and service providers. Mental Health Australia continues to stand at the ready to assist the NDIA and the Committee to ensure the best possible outcomes for people with a psychosocial disability and carers, and recommends a further consideration of the proposal Providing Psychological Disability Support through the NDIS - a proposal for the National Disability Insurance Agency, published by Mental Health Australia in March 2014.
