Submission

Mental Health Australia’s submission to the National Disability Employment Framework – Discussion Paper.

General

The MHCA is keen to hear from consumers and carers about your knowledge and experiences with Australian Government Disability Employment Services via a short online survey. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete and people who wish to discuss their experiences with Disability Employment Services with us in greater detail can elect to do so by providing their contact details. Otherwise the survey can be completed anonymously.

Submission

In December 2012 the Department of Employment Education and Workplace Relations ( DEEWR ) sought input on their discussion paper “Improving the employment participation of people with a disability in Australia”. The MHCA made this submission on the discussion paper.

Media Releases

The Mental Health Council of Australia has welcomed the release of Australia’s first National Report Card on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. “The National Report Card gives us a snapshot of where Australia currently is and takes a whole-of-life approach, looking at physical health, employment, relationships, education, housing and homelessness, community participation, family and child support and justice. This shows us that we’ve come a long way over the last 20 or so years, but we still have a long way to go”, said Mr Frank Quinlan, CEO of the Mental Health Council of Australia.

Report

The MHCA and the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) brought together employment services and Personal Helpers and Mentors ( PH aMS) service providers from across Australia to discuss the development of a new PH aMs employment stream announced as part of the 2011-12 Mental Health Budget Reform.
