Mental Health Carers NDIS Guide and Checklist

Mental Health Australia and Carers Australia have developed a Guide for Mental Health Carers on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and a Mental Health Carer Checklist to prepare for NDIS assessment and planning meetings, which are both available here. The guide and checklist provide information to help carers support the person they care for to engage with the NDIS effectively. Read more.

Consumer and Carer Capacity Building Workshop Communique - 29 January 2015

The NDIS Mental Health Consumer and Carer Capacity Building Workshop was attended by one consumer and one carer from each state and territory and two consumers and two carers from the National Mental Health Consumer and Carer Forum. NDIS Draft Fact Sheet 4: The National Disability Insurance Scheme and mental health: What services can I choose?

This fact sheet resource offers an overview of:

  • what the NDIS is
  • where mental health fits
  • how much support might be provided
  • how to apply for support from the NDIS
  • what a support plan is
  • what supports might be funded 

It also outlines how families and carers might be involved in helping people with psychosocial disability access the scheme and where people can find out more information.
